Bodega Nights

What said couldn't be done, fucking happened, legitimately and in fashion. Orderly chaos! to say the least is what bodega employees would say. A gathering of neighbors and strangers, music and art, food and beer, came to far fetched fruition on its 3rd attempt of "Bodega Nights" a part of "Belmont Twenties First Friday Art Walk"
The art featured over the shelves of sriracha and your favorite alternative-milk for the month of September is a lovely young lady named Louise Peters, who featured her artistic skills live on a makeshift slab of wood among a over crowded sidewalk arranged with seating made of milk crates and cardboard.
DJ Shaky-Lu shook things up in lieu of the ordinary grocer line to check-out. His tip jar surely looked happily convinced enough to proceed into the early hours.
As regular clerks and friends became efficient beer slingers of dolla and 2 dollar drinks, and shoppers became clubbers, Belmont Bodega catered to a successful, innovative First Friday experience.

Lay It Down: A Jam with Jakob

It was another accomplished evening with the overly talented gents at Portland.Field.Recordings.. Working with these cats is a cherry! A honey-sweet damn-near professional, do it yourself studio, with all the toys and tweaks any weathered musician could ever want. The former Hoyt Street Studios and their founding members Jake Worley, Jakob Vankiersbilck, and Kevin Nothing make up part of the revolutionary, revisited like (Tom Waits on Stacks Records meets The Kinks as Midwesterners) rock-blues group The Vernons, they can be found off NE 56th and Hoyt.

We began our eve with a puff and a cider, and re stumbled upon a prototype sample chop from the ever classic Ronnie Foster. Grooving for-sure as the inspiration billows. A notecard later and its lyrics through the microphone.. then the melody is found and the building becomes cohesive. Jakob the Other rides the beat so smooth its blended like cake-batter..sweet! Here's a new one!

One Early Beggining..

On an eve of work, play, and inspiration, i relay to you a compilation. Rather this a test run, for my own discovery of annals electronic after a late night expedition into diary etiquette. Urban Commodity is my vision of a source. a reference. Reviews, features, and articles on music, art, films, shows, photography, food and basic fun. Interviews with bands in the your neighborhood, and great people doing interesting things around the corner. I hope this becomes a nice and modest exhibit from my perspective rooted towards the general interest of general folk like you and me...

This first post is the music of rap-trip hopper Emeph the Eclectic a preview into the album "Mixtape Martial Arts". Due Winter
