overCAST:PDX hip hop #1
"Lazerus the Black Zombie" - Soopah Eype
Soopah Eype is a "different species entirely". The LA native might be spotted street striding with a head full of alliterations and a fat stack of dub, rare groove and soundtrack vinyl: the staple of his instrumentals. The dilla-esq production for his 5th mixtape installment Public Defender assembled by Steve French and Doogies the Lion caught the attention of Upper Playground who decided to help distribute the free mixtape. This prime eype with lion tendencies tangles around metaphors like no other and scratching the surface of bar-setting references.

"DMLHISM" which boasts a smooth Mulatu sample is one of plenty cruise-worthy cuts constructed by producer/MC Joe Cyrus who produced the whole album Actually Happening.

"I'm Ill"ft. Milc & Dust - Mighty Misc
It's a no brainer that Mighty Misc is putting shame to laymans on the daily. Organizer of Hungry Hungry Hip: a local MC outlet at Mississippi Pizza is among the things to be admired by the lengthy-one-liner, speed-lyricist at a whopping 5'5. The new album "?" by Misc who reminds me of a young Eyedea shows tall potential through light hearted manifestations like "Space Crustaceans" and heart spoken "Erwin Oster". It's no surprise if you've seen his prolific name attached to show bills on the regular. Mighty teams with Dust and Milc on this crew cut.
